May 2023: Once again I must write about how I finally am
getting to the recounting of something, quite a while after
the fact. I'm writing this almost exactly one year after I
hit the road for Spring
Vacation
2022. On May 27, 2022, I hit the road for my first destination,
Hocking Hills
and the Wolf's Den cabin at
Thunder Ridge Cabins B & B,
where I had stayed once before, in October of 2020 ‐‐
and started writing the song,
"Chilled October Morning,"
during that first stay.
Unlike that 2020
vacation,
and several others, this one didn't have have a lot of
music associated with it, save for the
Paul McCartney
Got Back tour
stop in Knoxville.
This time, though I brought along my
Giannini acoustic bass,
and I think maybe my
Oxygen 61 Keyboard,
I started no new music nor even pulled an instrument out to
play.
However, I did spend a lot of time in forestry, hiked a lot,
had a good cabin stay, had a great camping experience on the
side of a mountain, spent some good times sitting at campfires,
and was once again mesmerized, for the twelfth time,
by a living rock-&-roll legend. While I was on the side
of that mountain, I got a most surprising phone call. Plus,
I got my cool hiking stick on this trip!
By and large, this whole Spring
Vacation
2022 tour is another on-line, virtual equivalent to a
vacation
slideshow one of your aunts or uncles might subject you
to at a family gathering. The almost 350 photos shared on
these pages are, for the uppermost part, variations on
photos I have shared before; but, they're new, even when
the new ones are interchangeable with past ones, especially
a few from the Hocking Hills leg of my trip. Certainly the
traditional
vacation-launch
pics below are reminiscent of past photographs. What can I
say? I share this stuff because it's the kind of stuff that
feeds the heart, mind, and soul of this artistically-leaning
human.
