OFFICIALLY STARTING TODAY:
Yep, I. am. on
vacation,
as of today, for essentially the next week and a half. Most of it's
earmarked for things artistic with the heavy focus on music. There's
gonna be some other stuff. I'm sure that if the heatwave dies down
some there'll be some hiking, and I am seriously thinking about a
trip to The Cincinnati Zoo
since I haven't been there in five years. That again is predicated
on cooler temperatures materializing. I'd thought about a little
camping trip but it's risky to try to reserve a campsite at the last
minute, and I don't want to have a reservation in ahead of time then
have it be 98° with a heat index of 109.
Beyond the question of what recreational things I end up doing,
the more important question is which artistic things will I get
to. A couple are a given, and another is close to so.
Work on the Rich/K.L. music collaboration
is guaranteed since we are spending a good portion of the day tomorrow
in our second session, where we'll continue working on the first song
of the joint project. I have the hope we get at least some
recording done. I'm spending a good portion of today continuing to
work on my bass line for the song, especially focusing on the bass
solo. I've woodshedded it most nights recently.
It's also a guarantee that I'm working on my
Album 2.0 Project.
I have lots of options. There are a decent handfull of new song
ideas, some already a few yards into development, mostly meaning
I've written some substantial amount of the lyrics and have strong
visions for what I want musically. There are also more than a few
songs from my younger years I am seriously considering for
Album 2.0.
I also may get brave a give the damned vocals for the R&B song
another attempt.
Now that the
bounce
stems
for the songs on the
Heart Walks album project
are in better shape, spending some time on
mixing
and
mastering
the album is close underneath the two projects above. The sooner it's
mastered, the sooner it's released. Though, I still have cover art
to deal with. It's also going to be a two-CD set, so my initial
financial investment will be probably around twice as much as
my first album release
was, and it may take time to build up enough money to spare.
The Ambient Music album
simply needs a little tweak to it's
mastering
and, again, some artwork. I'm not sure I'm going to put this one out
in physical format. I may make it an electronic release only. So,
it's not impossible that this one could be ready for release by the
end of
Artist's Retreat ‐
Staycation
July

. I'm pretty sure I want to try and get this on one or
more relevant channels on Soma FM.
A couple times recently I have opened up the
Final Draft
document for my
two-act play
to do a little
revising.
But I'm thinking I need to seriously
rewrite
portions of it. If there's room, I may spend some time on this, too.
Then there's the thought about finally adding at least one or a
few events to the
Vacation
& Recreation section of
the site proper.
Only issue here is that most, if not all, of the events need to
have the photos for them processed which can be time consuming.
As I wrote in the last blog post,
this is low priority, so don't be too shocked if this little task
doesn't make it to the table during this retreat.
And further, I'm not naive, I've done these
Artist's Retreat ‐
Staycations
before; I had big-ass agendas and I came nowhere close to getting
to all of it. I can't imagine this time will be any different. That
doesn't mean I won't be successful and accomplish some stuff. And
we can't say I don't have options.
